Pete Daniel retired from the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History three years ago and now is an independent scholar living in Washington, DC. In addition to Dispossession, Discrimination Against African American Farmers in the Age of Civil Rights, he has published six other books dealing with twentieth century southern history. He has been president of the Agricultural History Society, the Southern Historical Association, and the Organization of American Historians.
