Hải Võ grew up in Orange County, California, where he moved after being sponsored with his Vietnamese immigrant parents and older brother by a family in Sioux City, Iowa. Hải began working toward food and social justice at 18 years old, when he weighed 250 pounds and had Type 2 diabetes, and his doctor told him that he’d live to be 30 if he continued eating and living the way he did. He’s passionate about evolutionary nutrition and reclaiming traditional foods and foodways. You can follow him at Twitter @nuocmamca.
