Back by popular demand, Civil Eats will host its third annual Celebration on Tuesday, November 13 in San Francisco at The Pearl. This is the one time each year that we gather to raise critical funds for our work and we need you, our community, to help us meet our fundraising goals. If you haven’t done so already, please consider buying your ticket today!
If you read Civil Eats regularly, you know that we are a nonprofit, independent news and commentary site. You also know that we’ve never taken advertising and rely on subscriptions, donations, and grants to pay our writers and editors. Since 2009, our tiny team has worked hard to bring a diverse array of perspectives to the forefront, while shining a light on the food system stories that matter most.
From sustainable agricultural practices, food justice, and nutrition to state and federal policy, Civil Eats has reported on the most important food and agriculture stories of our time. In the past year, we’ve covered in great depth the stories that don’t make it into other national publication: a groundbreaking series on rural environmental and agricultural issues; a spotlight on indigenous communities to defend and reclaim their traditional foodways; in-depth reporting on the 2018 Farm Bill; a focus on innovative farmers nationwide; highlighting the perilous state of food and farm labor today; and so much more.
We’re proud to be a trusted news source producing meaningful, nuanced content, breaking down complex policy changes, and shining a light on under-reported people and ideas. We’re honored by the recognition and awards our work has received, and we can do even more with your support.
This annual benefit is an opportunity to show up for our work, meet our writers, editors, and community, and experience what many consider one of the best community gatherings of the year. There will be delicious food from the Bay Area’s top chefs and stimulating conversations with extraordinary change makers.
Presented by Cienega Capital & the #NoRegrets Initiative, the event is also generously supported by the Bay Area’s best farmers, producers, chefs, and restaurants, including:
