Kristen is the Social Media/Communications Coordinator for GRACE. A native of Cleveland, OH, she holds an M.S. in Urban Policy Analysis & Management from The New School-Milano and an M.A. in Women's Studies from the University of Cincinnati. She has a B.A. in English and Women’s Studies from The College of Wooster. Her interests and experience include writing and consulting about renewable energy policy, social justice in food/water systems and green job creation. A volunteer mentor with Girls Write Now and an enthusiastic cook, Kristen lives in Astoria with her cat, Ginsberg.

The 2012 Farm Bill Will Be Visiting a Lame Duck

Well, it’s official. Last Thursday, Speaker of the House John Boehner confirmed that the House will not vote on the 2012 Farm Bill during this brief Congressional working session and thus we’ll zip right past that pesky September 30 expiration date on the former bill. (I’ll explain what this means momentarily.)  It’s possible that during Congress’ upcoming lame duck session in November, a one-year extension of the current bill will be voted on, and then we’ll get to do this all over again next year!
