[...] Bulking Up – An account of shopping the produce wholesalers in SF. The LA equivalent is a gargantuan affair near downtown. Scores of eighteen wheelers disgorging SoCal's irrigated fruits and veggies into long linear chilled warehouses for the ethnic grocers and restaurants. I wonder what the organic offerings would be like? I wonder if we could get together enough people to make buying by the case weekly worthwhile? Still need to go dive at Bristol Farms… free is hard to beat. [...]

What a great article! My only question: doesn't produce on the brink of spoilage have a lower nutritional content than fresh?

Of course, most grocery stores have produce on the brink of spoilage, so I shouldn't complain, but still. It came to mind when I was reading.

Also, does Valentina have a full-time job? Just curious, because I know how much work it is to keep up with produce, be creative in the kitchen, and not get burned out on cooking what you have, or even cooking in general!

Fascinating read, though.
