Great Story! I really love to hear about people's experiences starting new farms. And for information about those 'needed materials and support', I would humbly suggest my own not-for-profit website: http://beginningfarmers.org, which has loads of information about both. Happy farming!

It really is inspiring to see non-farmers getting into this. I think I would like to eventually have a small self sustaining farm in my home state of ND. I don't know much about growing stuff though... YET.

I started my greenhouse over a slab of concrete that had been poured many moons ago for the intended use of being the set for a water pump for animal use. We dug out the container and framed the greenhouse in record time. We found the roof, frosty fiberglass, at a salvage yard, framed some vents and 2 windows. It is the most peaceful place I know. It's a great hideout from my kids. I will build a greenhouse like yours when I can get a deal on the metal frames.
