Beautiful writing Asiya. I'm fruit harvesting and donating to local food pantries. The sheer quanitity of fruit available is even more than can be bartered. Truckload after truckload. Just so much it is unbelievable.

Our projects are very similar, though separated by 20 miles. My urban fruit mapping includes over 500 trees in Concord, Clayton and Walnut Creek. It has been a busy year! As always, I love reading your notes too. Happy Harvesting.

Thank you for the great bit of writing about one of my favorite fruits. I moved away from Ca. for a few years back in the 70's, and didn't miss much about the state except for fresh figs and discustingly ripe persimmons. People around here talk a lot about how good a cookie they can make with a persimmon, but few have the sence of adventure to just eat them as they are. When they are all the way ripe they taste a bit like a fresh date, only better. Right now I can look out my window at work and see a tree full of them with all of the leaves gone. Looks like Christmas is on the way. Thanks again.
