Thank you for writing about this! I've been upset and appalled by the lack of interest in the hands that bring our food from farm to table. We need to continue to talk about socially just work conditions for the people who do the backbreaking work to feed us and expand our idea of what it means to buy sustainably.

Social justice is so important when dealing with farming. Everyone blabs on and on about organic, but you have to be careful there. Farmer worker conditions in this country are shamefully terrible. Too bad no one pays attention. The mass media and public are only just starting to pay attention to farmers themselves! Migrant workers are low on the list.

I've been heartened by the news I've read here and other places about the great strides sustainable agriculture is making in public awareness, political clout, and government action. Maybe someone needs to talk to Michelle Obama about farm workers, too?
