At Norwich Meadows Farm, located in Norwich, NY, we are fortunate to have grown our tomatoes in "high tunnels." This has helped in eliminating most fungi and insect problems. A clay-based spray was also applied to combat the damp atmospheric conditions that pervaded the tunnels during this very wet and cool summer. The result was a large and successful tomato crop. Most of our crops are grown in tunnels using drip irrigation. The tunnels obviously give greater control over adverse weather conditions and have helped to eliminate many problems. Tunnels, by no means, eliminate all problems, nor present the best conditions to grow certain crops. Farming is a task that is best undertaken by those with stout hearts and an overabundance of perseverance.

my garden suffered from heavy rains, run-off, potato blight, cold temperatures... all i can say is that this is my first planting year on this mountain hillside. i am forced to chalk it up to experience and be grateful i do not have to make a living on what i grow, ..yet. but this was my root cellar experiment. all i have left now is carrots.
