It will take all of us to remind our local municipalities that we want LOCAL sustainable agriculture on our local lands, and not big box stores and housing projects. So many still don't know the importance. Keep the information circulating!

Though not fast enough, I think the economics are starting to take care of this destruction. Down here around here in Houston, we are at the tail end of completely destroying what is left of the Katy prairie.

However, as I was riding around on my bike last weekend, I realized I was amidst a number of pastures that were leveled out for sub-divisions few months ago. Under normal conditions, these would have been houses already and with completely absurd traffic conditions.

Here I was just rolling under beautiful blue sky without a house in sight at least 8 months later. It was incredible.

I can't think of anything more pressing than the need to preserve local farmland from development, or initiatives that make land more affordable for young farmers. These are precisely the issues that we should be paying more attention to.
